I'm a nature educator, chef, mumma, mountain biker, cycle teacher and rookie surfer. I am obsessed about feeling well and vibrant! I enjoy spending time in nature as well as experimenting in the kitchen and eating nourishing whole foods. I love to read, learn, drink tea and go on adventures with my family and friends.
I identify as a highly sensitive person (HSP) so require quiet time to recharge, namely yoga, Qigong, meditation, journaling and time outside in nature.
I am a certified Holistic Health Coach (Institute of Integrative Nutrition) a qualified Chef (Auckland Institute of Technology), Conservation Ranger (Nelson/ Marlborough Institute of Technology) and qualified Recreation and Sport Coaching Instructor (Skills Active).
I am eternally curious about human behaviour, our brains, patterns, mindsets, joy, beauty and discovering how we can live our most authentic lives!
My 30's were a crazy beautiful decade spent focusing on my babies, moving to new places, making new friends, learning how to be a "stay-at-home mum" and later the seemingly frightening task of re-entering the workforce, trying to find some time with my partner, searching for the elusive "me time" between all the other things that need to happen as a mother, friend, partner, sister and daughter.
My coping mechanisms during this busy time were pretty standard:
1) Sugar
2) More sugar
3) Wine
4) Caffeine
5) Netflix
Repeat.
By my mid 30's I started to feel pretty crappy... I felt overweight, frumpy and ill. I didn't have the energy I needed to be the best version of me. The best mum I wanted to be.
And so I started charting my headaches, migraines, periods and anxiety levels. Patterns started to emerge.
I'd witnessed my mum's struggle with weight loss all my life and therefore knew that dieting was not the answer.
In 2019 just shy of my 40th birthday I joined a coaching group and got the deep coaching I desired. I learnt how to make changes to my mindset which then enabled me to make the lifestyle changes needed to achieve sustainable weight loss without dieting!
The effects this had on my life were transformational for many reasons, but I still had a road ahead of me because what I didn't realise was that although I had lost the weight, I still had my same crappy thoughts about myself, I still had chronic anxiety (even though I was proactive and doing things such as yoga, meditation, quitting alcohol, sugar, coffee etc... etc...) I was still putting myself under constant internal pressure AND that started to manifest in a myriad of health issues.
My (ongoing) journey to regaining my full health and essentially coming home to myself has given me insight into the many challenges we face. This enables me to bring a high level of knowledge, understanding and compassion to my coaching.
So are you ready?
To feel vibrant, healthy and well? To feel beautiful and smile often? To be amazed at how wonderful your body feels and to appreciate all of your "flaws" and acknowledge your inner beauty? To feel ok, even excited about aging? To show yourself kindness and forgiveness? To create nourishing and nutritious meals? To find joy and purpose?
